Country Dreams

Country Dreams

A poem by Sydney Stone. I do not own the image.

***

Beer at noon,

And dirt road gates,

Slow we feel,

Our lives abate,

Come now moon,

Come now stars,

See how we justify,

These lives of ours,

Denim pants,

And trim of lace,

Girl offer boy,

A smile to chase,

And lain together,

‘Neath yonder tree,

Dream you ever,

Of what could be,

Long as you’re free.
