Small Bird’s Omen

Small Bird’s Omen

A poem by Sydney Stone. I do not own the image.

***

A small bird flits,

Through darkened branches,

Like forlorn spirits,

In empty mansions,

Does it herald,

Times to come?

Or does it hint,

To deeds undone?

Or does it merely seek,

The rising sun?

Maybe the small bird, like us. Just seeking something missed, just seeking a place missed. A wonderful poem dear poet.

Small birds, I think, are messengers of the unconscious. They can be harbingers of darkness but just as important, a light toward renewal and rebirth.
